The ladies of the St. Peter's Cathedral Altar Guild are
a dedicated and hard working group of ladies. The cycle of worship services
throughout the year, not just on Sundays, but day by day, keeps these ladies
very busy. Day after day they perform such duties as preparing the vestments
and communion vessels for the Holy Eucharist, preparing the Altar by changing
the frontals and riddel curtains when necessary, tending to all the linens,
keeping the vestments and robes of the clergy and altar servers clean, looking
after the arrangement of altar flowers, and a host of other duties.
Printed below is the Altar Guild's Annual Report for the Year 2006,
as presented at the Parish Annual Meeting in February 2007.
The Annual Meeting of the Junior and Senior Altar Guild was held at the Rectory on June 13th at 7:30 p.m. We thank Canon Peter Harris for his warm welcome and hospitality. On June 17th the Altar Guild met in the Chapel at 9:45 a.m. for our Annual Corporate Communion.
We are pleased to welcome Gaie Orton on the Altar Guild. Gaie comes with some experience, having helped out on many occasions when an extra pair of hands was needed. She was well trained by her mother, Dorothy Orton.
Again we thank the Inglis Group and the Men's Service Club for polishing the Sanctuary Lamps and the candelabras. A very special thank you to our parish Sacristan, Ralph Moore, who polishes the Eagle and the Office Candlestands. Ralph also assists the Altar Guild in many other ways.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Senior and Junior ladies for their continued dedication in caring for the Sanctuaries and the vestments.
As always, we are happy to welcome new members. Anyone who is interested in serving in this capacity please contact Canon Peter Harris or myself.
Respectfully submitted,
Donalda Winter, President.++++++++++
