Sacristans' Report

For the year ending 2009

In 2009, after years of dedicated service as Sacristan, the Reverend Ralph Moore was ordained to the priesthood and went on to continue his ministry in Newfoundland. Timothy Kenney and Craig MacDonald, who assisted during Fr Moore's Divinity studies, have been appointed to share the office, and will work together to continue the traditional role of Sacristan here at St Peter's. Thankful for his training and continued guidance, we wish Fr Moore the very best.

As in the past, some older servers moved on in 2009, and new talent stepped in. We were pleased to present a ring to Christopher Dowbiggin, recognising his years of service at the Cathedral. Sean Bulman, another senior server, resumed his duties after some time away from PEI. We thank both young men for the faithful commitment they've shown throughout their teenage years, and are pleased to look forward to continuing our work with him.

There are now more than 10 others fully trained and ready to help out at various points in the year. In particular, the present guild has excelled not only as school-years come and go but also as the liturgical year unfolds. In particular, the integral role our servers play during Holy Week is always truly praiseworthy. The servers at St Peter's are very capable and it is an honour for us to work with them. More being merrier, of course, we welcome new members to the guild on a simple voluntary basis.

We would like to thank these altar servers for their dedication, but also the Altar Guild for the painstaking work they do behind the scenes, and the wider Cathedral family for every kind of support.

In Christ, —Timothy Kenney & Craig MacDonald.
