The year 2007 was another busy year for the Altar Servers at St. Peter's Cathedral with five new regular servers added to the roster, raising the current regular complement to 12. This increase in numbers is genuinely delightful as it shows continued dedication by these young men in a new and important phase of their life in Christ.
On a regular basis for the past year, the young men of the Servers' Guild could faithfully be relied on to participate in the numerous services held at St. Peter's. Particular dedication could be noted during the regular Sunday Morning Sung Eucharist, and the many varied services held throughout the year. And as in past years, one must never overlook the dedication required from these young men during the 14 services in the eight-day period between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday.
I must also mention that several younger boys have readily assisted with the servers' duties during the summer months, when the regular servers are on vacation, working summer jobs, or returned home after completing studies at UPEI. With these younger boys accepting the challenge, the Servers Guild should continue to grow and flourish in the years ahead.
Servers undergo training several Saturdays a year, with training sessions concluding with attendance at Evensong, followed by 'pizza and pop' fellowship in the Cathedral Hall. These young men are a wonderful asset to the Parish and should be very proud of the important role they play.
In closing, I wish to offer a sincere thank-you to all members of the Cathedral family who have supported the Servers' Guild in so many ways.
Respectfully submitted,
